Welcome to Osteria da Riccardo and its cuisine, where contemporary Venetian recipes meet the flavors of the lagoon.
My cuisine is an expression of the combination of the local traditions, my childhood memories and international flavours. The osteria menu is based on fresh, raw and cooked fish and the meat is from the Damini Macelleria & Affini selection in Arzignano; pasta is always of ancient grains, seasonal vegetables, sophisticated cheeses and wines are selected from the Italian wineries that I love most. My philosophy is to choose the best raw ingredients to always offer you an unexpected gastronomic experience that is different every day. The furnishings and the atmosphere of this Venetian osteria are very intimate and it has now become a meeting point for the social life of the community and welcomes poets, journalists, writers, directors and Venetians.

My Culinary Vision

Seafood
I’ll take you on a journey through the true flavors of Venice, where tradition and creativity meet on the plate. From raw fish with Peruvian inspiration to mostly local oysters and prized bluefin tuna – every dish tells the story of my passion and ongoing search for the finest ingredients.
From the Land
My selection celebrates Italian excellence: premium meats from Piedmont and Tuscany, artisanal cured meats from XXL pigs, and pasta that pays tribute to classic recipes. Cacio e Pepe, Carbonara, Norma, and my signature lasagna – with Chianina ragù or a seafood twist – bring my idea of Italy to the table.
Bites and Temptations
I’ve crafted a world of small delights: tapas, Venetian cicchetti, and my small contemporary pizzas, including the unique PizzaSalad.
Little masterpieces for memorable moments.
Tasting Hours
My kitchen is open from 12:30 PM to 11:30 PM.
Between 12:30 PM and 6:30 PM, and again after 10:00 PM, I serve a curated selection of dishes – what’s available is what you get, and it’s always worth discovering.
For Every Palate
For those who love vegetarian cuisine, I always have creative, refined options. They’re not just alternatives – they’re part of the way I see food.
The Wine Cellar
Over 300 labels from Italy and around the world. I have a soft spot for natural wines, small artisanal producers, and sparkling wines with real personality. Every bottle is chosen to match the food with lightness, but always with character.
On Request
Tailor-made tasting menus: meat, raw fish, cooked seafood, or vegetarian.

Where we are
We are in Venice in the popular Cannaregio district, which is near the centre but secluded and serene, with spectacular panoramic views. The fish arrives every day from the nearby Rialto Market, and in a few minutes you can reach Piazza San Marco, the Basilica di San Marco and Palazzo Ducale.
Around the Osteria
La Ca’ d’Oro
The fifteenth-century palace in flowery Gothic is a museum that houses the San Sebastiano by Andrea Mantegna, the Venus in the Mirror by Titian, paintings by Carpaccio and Giorgione and the extraordinary mosaic floor by Baron Giorgio Franchetti.
Strada Nova
The lively street that connects Venice Station to Rialto and San Marco and that takes you to the Jewish Ghetto and its beautiful Synagogues; a street full of shops of all kinds.
Fondaco dei Tedeschi
A luxury department store with boutiques, cafes and a panoramic terrace above the Rialto Bridge, located in the ancient palace of the Serenissima Republic which since 1200 has been the seat of German and Northern European merchants, and which has regained its splendour with the restoration signed by the Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas.
